Political turmoil has intensified regarding the election for the post of Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha. While the government once again wants to see Harivansh Narayan Singh on this post, the opposition does not seem to agree on this. In such a situation, the elections to be held on April 17 can be interesting and competitive. Both the ruling party and the opposition have started making their own strategies regarding this election.
Harivansh again took oath as Rajya Sabha member
Before this, Harivansh Narayan Singh once again took the oath of office and secrecy as a Rajya Sabha member. CP Radhakrishnan administered the oath to him. Harivansh has become a member of Rajya Sabha for the third consecutive time. It is noteworthy that Harivansh is associated with JDU, but he has been nominated to Rajya Sabha by the President. He has also been the Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha in his second term. Recently this post became vacant after his tenure ended. When Harivansh again became a member of the Rajya Sabha, the BJP leadership started trying to make him the Deputy Chairman again.
Effort for consensus on the name of Harivansh
The government is trying to create a consensus on the name of Harivansh. Under this, many ministers are contacting the opposition leaders. Kiren Rijiju, JP Nadda and Piyush Goyal are talking to the opposition. The government is trying to ensure that the opposition also agrees to the name of Harivansh, so that there is no need for elections.
