West Bengal Election 2026: BJP has fielded the mother of a female doctor of RG Kar Hospital, the most famous rape and murder case of West Bengal, in the election field. BJP has given ticket to the mother of the victim doctor from Panihati assembly of North 24 Parganas district.
Smriti Irani had written a letter to BJP asking for ticket, filed her nomination

Debnath said that she is 200 percent sure that she will win the elections. This victory will not be his alone. This will be a victory for the entire Panihati assembly and the people of Bengal.

BJP has upper hand on this assembly seat, people are against TMC

Nirmal Ghosh is from TMC on this seat. He has been winning this seat since 1996. First of all he contested the elections here on Congress ticket. He won from this seat in 2001, 2011, 2016, and 2021. If we add 2006, Nirmal Ghosh was defeated by the CPI candidate. This time his son Tirthankar Ghosh is in the election field. This is the first election of Tirthankar. In such a situation, a tough political contest can be seen.
