JD Vance has left for Pakistan to attend the meeting to be held in Islamabad with the aim of permanent peace between Iran and America. Along with expressing hope for positive talks with Iran, he also issued a warning. JD Vance said that US President Donald Trump has given him some guidelines regarding Islamabad talks and we will try to have positive talks.
JD Vance warns Iran
According to Reuters report, US Vice President JD Vance said, ‘We are eagerly waiting for the talks. I think it will be positive, as the President of America has also said. If the Iranian people are willing to negotiate in good faith, we are certainly ready to extend the hand of friendship to them. If they try to play tricks on us, they will come to know that our negotiating team is not so soft.
Islamabad was converted into a fort
The US and Iran agreed on Wednesday to a two-week conditional ceasefire, followed by a meeting in Islamabad to resolve differences and convert the current ceasefire into a permanent peace. Before the arrival of delegations from both the countries, security arrangements were reviewed in Islamabad on Friday (10 April 2026). More than 10,000 security personnel have been deployed in Islamabad regarding the proposed meeting. Pakistan’s capital Islamabad is immersed in an unusual silence these days. The normal activity on the streets has been replaced by the presence of security forces and traffic has been limited in many areas.
Questions being raised on Islamabad talks
After the announcement of ceasefire, what was done by Israel and what was said by America has raised questions about the confidence in the current situation. Before leaving for Pakistan on April 9, there were many things in the statements of JD Vance and US Defense Minister Pete Hegseth which raise questions on the future of Iran ceasefire.
Israel’s attack on Lebanon, claim of killing hundreds in a single day and then Trump himself saying that there is no mention in the agreement regarding Hezbollah, raises questions on this agreement. However, Pakistan said that Hezbollah was its part. A major challenge behind this entire process is lack of trust. Doubts are being raised within Iran as to whether these talks will actually lead to a concrete solution or whether it is merely an attempt to temporarily avoid tensions.
