Donald Trump may be busy bragging about the ceasefire between Iran and America in the Middle East, but the ground reality is telling something else. Trump has announced a two-week conditional ceasefire, backing down from possible major military attacks against Iran. This decision is related to the condition of reopening the Strait of Hormuz. The world has heaved a sigh of relief with this announcement, but has the US achieved the goal from this war with which it had started the attack on Iran?
Trump’s statement regarding IRGC
US President Trump has called it a ceasefire from both sides. This means that this agreement can also end the ongoing war with Israel. However, Trump also said that sporadic firing may continue for some time in the beginning because several branches of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) work independently and coordination between them may take time.
Trump has said that he has read Iran’s 10-point plan, but he has not said that he agrees with all its points. Before the war started, talks were going on between America and Iran regarding missile capability. The Trump administration said that Iran is making missiles that can reach America and Europe. This is the reason why America was demanding removal of nuclear material and ban on missile development.
Was US able to destroy Iranian missile capability?
During the war, Trump claimed several times that the US had destroyed Iran’s missile capability, but Iran called this claim false every time. Even before the ceasefire, the way Trump had threatened to destroy civilization also shows that the US has failed to destroy Iran’s missile capability. After Trump’s threat, Iran said that it still has dangerous missiles, which it has not used yet during this war.
How much truth is there in Trump’s claim of destroying the Iranian Navy?
The Trump administration had vowed to destroy Iran’s navy but did not succeed in that either. During the war, Trump had repeatedly talked about completely destroying the Iranian Navy and Air Force, but the very next day Iran shot down a US fighter jet. Similarly, Trump kept claiming to destroy the Iranian Navy and on the other hand, he also kept asking for help from other countries of the world including Europe to completely open Hormuz.
How successful was Trump in bringing about a change of power?
The main objective of America to start the war was said to be change of power. On February 28, the then Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in the attack and then Trump claimed that now the government of Iran has changed, but it did not happen. Trump’s one statement does not match another statement. Trump first says that we have changed power and talks are going on with the new government. Then they say that if the new government does not listen to us, they will destroy a civilization. Which clearly means that Trump could not bring about a change of power in Iran.
Trump’s statement regarding uranium enrichment
The US President claimed that now uranium enrichment will not be done in Iran and America will work with Iran to take out the underground nuclear material. He said that strict satellite surveillance is being maintained on the entire area, so that any activity can be monitored. However, regarding uranium enrichment, Iran has already been saying that it will not make nuclear weapons and it is using uranium only for electricity.
Israel and the US aim to destroy the missile stockpiles of Hezbollah in Lebanon, Houthi in Yemen and Iran-backed militias operating in Iraq/Syria. Since the beginning of this war, Hezbollah has been continuously attacking Israel. After the ceasefire, one thing became clear that America’s dream of eliminating Iran-backed groups remained in vain.
