Meanwhile, State Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday (April 5, 2026) made a scathing attack on Congress leader Pawan Kheda over the allegations made against him. Himanta Biswa Sarma rejected all the allegations made by Pawan Kheda and said that he and his wife Rinki Bhuinya Sarma will file a criminal case and defamation case against Pawan Kheda within 48 hours regarding this matter.

Sarma said, ‘I completely reject every allegation made by Pawan Kheda. These are extremely malicious, fabricated and politically motivated lies, whose sole purpose is to confuse and mislead the people of Assam. He further said, ‘My wife and I will file a criminal and defamation case against Congress leader Pawan Kheda within the next 48 hours and he will be held fully responsible for such careless and derogatory comments.’
What did Pawan Kheda say in the press conference?
In fact, Congress media department head Pawan Kheda, while addressing a press conference, made several allegations against Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and his wife regarding his family property and financial transactions. He further raised the question whether Himanta Biswa Sarma also has more than one passport? Is he planning to run away after losing the Assam elections? Himanta Biswa Sarma’s entire politics is based on hatred against Muslims, but his wife holds passports of two Muslim countries, how? According to Indian law, you cannot hold dual citizenship, so does Rinki Bhuyan Sarma also hold an Indian passport?
