The grand road show organized in Jorhat city under the leadership of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma blocked the entire city for hours. A huge crowd of more than 15,000 people gathered in this huge road show from Dos & Co Chariyali to Baruah Chariyali, making it the biggest political event in recent times.
The road show was organized in support of BJP candidate Hitendra Nath Goswami, who is contesting against prominent Congress leader and Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Gaurav Gogoi. As the Chief Minister’s convoy passed through various areas of the city, thousands of people came out of their homes and stood on the roadside to welcome him. The atmosphere had become completely festive. BJP workers and the public gave a warm welcome to the Chief Minister by showering flowers on him.
Addressed public meeting in Chariyali
Due to the crowd, traffic on many major routes of the city was completely affected and there was a jam situation for hours. However, BJP leaders have described this huge public support as a positive sign for the upcoming elections. After the road show, the Chief Minister addressed a public meeting at Nehru Park Chariyali.
Mention of proposed elevated corridor in Kaziranga
In his address, the CM expressed his gratitude to the people of Jorhat and said, “I thank the people of Jorhat. We are doing many development works here, which also includes drinking water project.” He also mentioned the proposed elevated corridor in Kaziranga, which will reduce the travel time between Jorhat and Guwahati by about an hour. He appealed to the people to take their decisions keeping development in mind.
The Chief Minister also expressed confidence about the election results and said that BJP can win 90 to 100 seats. At the end of his speech, when it started raining, he said, “When ‘Nar’ and ‘Narayan’ come together, success is certain.” This grand road show and huge public support has given new momentum to BJP’s election campaign in Jorhat, making the upcoming contest even more interesting.
