Caught in the Iran war, Donald Trump has taken big action. He has dismissed America’s Attorney General Pam Bondi from her post. Trump himself has given this information on the social media platform Truth Social.
Donald Trump wrote, ‘Pam Bondi is a great American patriot and loyal friend, who has done a good job as my Attorney General for the last year. Pam Bondi has done a tremendous job in drastically curbing crime in our country, resulting in murder levels reaching their lowest level since 1900.
What did Trump say?
The US President further said, ‘Pam Bondi is one of our favorite people and she is moving to a much-needed and important new position in the private sector, which will be announced soon and our Deputy Attorney General and Todd Blanch, an extremely talented and respected law expert, will take over as Acting Attorney General.’
Why was Trump disappointed with Bondi?
According to reports, Trump was also disappointed that Bondi was not moving quickly to prosecute critics and opponents against whom he wanted to bring criminal charges. US lawmakers are reviewing Epstein’s unredacted files.
During her tenure as America’s top law enforcement official, Bondi was a staunch supporter of Trump’s agenda and ended the Justice Department’s long-standing tradition of independence from the White House in its investigations, but repeated criticism over the Epstein files, including from Trump allies and some Republican lawmakers, overshadowed her tenure.
Epstein files became a headache for Trump
Bondi was accused of concealing or failing to release documents related to the Justice Department’s sex trafficking investigation against Epstein. Epstein was a financier who had relationships with many wealthy and powerful figures. The issue has caused political headaches for Trump and sparked re-examination of his past friendship with Epstein, which he has said ended decades ago.
His dismissal could lead to a reshuffle in Justice Department strategy and possibly renewed efforts to deploy the US legal system against Trump’s goals. Bondi is the second senior Trump official recently fired. Earlier, Trump had removed Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem from the post after criticism.
