The ongoing war in the Middle East and the situation at the Strait of Hormuz have created a situation of energy crisis in the entire world. At the same time, Trump’s attitude of threatening Iran has also weakened. The International Energy Agency (IEA) said on Wednesday (April 1, 2026) that the impact on global oil supply is expected to be twice as large this month as in March. However, Trump indicated that he could end the war within a few weeks even without any agreement.
Trump hints at withdrawal from NATO
Trump has also threatened that if European countries do not help the US in stopping Iran from doing arbitrariness on the Strait of Hormuz, then America will consider leaving NATO. Trump also said that he will continue attacking Iran. Iranian President Masoud Pejeshkian said that his country is ready to end the war if a guarantee is given that war will not happen again in the future. Iran has now declared itself the gatekeeper of the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran becomes the gatekeeper of Hormuz Strait
Iranian MP Ibrahim Azizi said that the Strait of Hormuz will no longer be the same. According to him, now this path will be open only for those countries which will follow the rules of Iran. He bluntly said that Iran’s era of hospitality is over. This means that Iran will charge a huge amount from any ship passing through this route. Iran had never used this route to earn money before.
Trump confused about Iran war
Now US President Donald Trump seems completely confused about the war with Iran. First he asked for help from NATO allies and then announced that America does not need NATO in this war. He then threatened to destroy Iran’s energy infrastructure and then suspended such attacks almost overnight. Social media users made fun of Trump’s decision.
Josh Marshall, founder of Talking Points Memo, posted on the social media platform ‘BlueSky’, saying, ‘There are so many tacos here that a New Mexican restaurant chain could be started.’ The Trump Always Chickens Out (TACO) hashtag was coined last year after the US President threatened to impose heavy tariffs and then backed down.
Trump wants to end the war by doing anything
The press office of California Governor Gavin Newsom posted on Twitter, saying, ‘Taco Tuesday is coming a day early.’ This post cites media reports which claim that Trump has told his aides that he is ready to end the war without reopening the Strait of Hormuz. A survey conducted by ‘Pew Research’ found that almost six out of ten, or 61 percent, Americans disagree with Trump’s attitude regarding the war with Iran. The survey also revealed that 37 percent people are in favor of war.
