Maharashtra Chief Minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday (March 31, 2026) addressed a huge public meeting in the truck stand area while intensifying the election campaign in Jorhat, Assam. This visit is being considered very important in view of the upcoming assembly elections. A large number of BJP workers and supporters were present in this public meeting organized in Jorhat. This rally is being considered an important part of BJP’s growing support base and election strategy in Assam, especially in the Upper Assam region where the political contest is likely to be tough.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has expressed full confidence about BJP’s victory in Assam. He said that there is a positive atmosphere in the state under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. He said, ‘This time only BJP government will be formed in Assam. There is a positive wave in the state due to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the work of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. We are confident that BJP will win with a huge majority.
Congress knows their promises are far from reality: Fadnavis
Targeting Congress, Fadnavis termed its manifesto as unbelievable. He said that in states like Maharashtra, Haryana and Delhi, Congress’ promises have not been successful and people no longer trust them. He said, ‘Congress’s manifesto no longer holds any importance. It did not work in Maharashtra, Haryana and Delhi. The public knows that Congress will not form the government and Congress itself also knows this. His promises are far from reality.
Maharashtra Chief Minister spoke on the problem of Naxalism
Speaking on the issue of Naxalism, CM Fadnavis praised Prime Minister Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He said that there has been a big change in Naxal affected areas like Gadchiroli of Maharashtra. He said, ‘I come from a state where Naxalism was a big problem, but due to the strict steps taken by Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, Naxalism has now almost ended. Gadchiroli, which was once a Naxal affected area, is now moving towards becoming a steel city.
PM always works for the poor and the deprived: Fadnavis
He also said that Prime Minister Modi always works in the interest of the poor and deprived sections and the development taking place in Assam is a clear example of this. He said, ‘Prime Minister Modi does not just give the slogan of ‘A for Assam’, but also implements it on the ground. Assam is changing rapidly and the support of all sections including the tea garden community is with BJP.
He refused to give any number on the estimation of seats, but said that NDA will get an overwhelming majority. He said, ‘If they get public confidence, they give a decisive mandate. Congress has failed to win the trust of the people.
Fadnavis spoke on the ongoing war in West Asia
Referring to the global crisis and war situation, Fadnavis said that the situation is bad in many Asian and European countries, but India has faced this challenge strongly. He said, ‘Due to the crisis in many countries of the world, a lockdown-like situation was created, but there was no shortage of petrol or domestic gas in India. This is the result of the efficient leadership of Prime Minister Modi.
However, he accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of trying to do politics even in this situation and creating an atmosphere of fear among the public. He said, ‘It is unfortunate that even at such a time, Congress played politics and spread confusion among the people, due to which long queues were seen at petrol pumps.’
