An important information has come out from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. The government is promoting piped gas i.e. PNG and under this, till now about 6000 people have given up their LPG connections. Ministry Secretary Pankaj Jain thanked these people on social media platform X and also appealed to others to leave LPG connections for the needy. The government plans to stop the supply of LPG in the future in areas where the PNG pipeline has reached but people have not taken the connection. This rule may come into effect after about three months. However, where it is not possible to provide PNG, this rule will not apply if NOC is obtained from the concerned agency.
The main reason behind this step is that there are problems in the supply of LPG from West Asia. In such a situation, the government wants people living in cities to adopt PNG, so that LPG cylinders can reach villages and remote areas where there is no pipeline facility. In the current situation, the supply of gas has been divided on the basis of priority. The entire gas is being given to PNG for homes and CNG for vehicles. At the same time, industries and shops are getting about 80 percent gas, while 70-75 percent gas is being supplied to factories. To meet the requirement, LNG is also being imported from outside.
What did the government say about the situation of LPG?
Regarding the situation of LPG, the government has clarified that the supply remains normal and more than 55 lakh cylinders are being delivered to the people every day. The supply of commercial LPG has also returned to normal to about 70%, with hotel and food industries being given priority. The government has started strict action to stop black marketing and hoarding. Recently, raids were conducted at about 2900 places and about 1000 cylinders were seized.
to PNG work being done to promote
To promote PNG, companies like Indraprastha Gas Limited, Mahanagar Gas Limited, GAIL Gas and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited are also giving discounts and other benefits to the people on taking connections. The government has asked the states to increase monitoring and implement gas related schemes expeditiously. People have also been appealed not to pay attention to any kind of rumours, because the situation is completely under control.
