Enforcement Directorate (ED) director and senior Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer Rahul Naveen has been promoted on Monday (March 30, 2026). Rahul Naveen has now been appointed to the post of Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (CCIT) of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT). An official notification in this regard has been issued by the Central Government on Monday (March 30, 2026).
Rahul Naveen, a 1993 batch Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer who was serving as the full-time Director of the Enforcement Directorate for the last two years (2024), has now been promoted by the Central Government and has been given the new responsibility as the Chief Income Tax Commissioner of the Central Board of Direct Taxes.
IRS Rahul Naveen was associated with the Enforcement Directorate since 2019.
IRS Rahul Naveen was serving in the Enforcement Directorate (ED) since the year 2019. He joined ED as Officer on Special Duty in November 2019. Before his appointment as the full-time Director of ED in the year 2024, the Central Government had also appointed him the Acting Director of ED in the year 2023, while before taking over the charge of the acting chief of the agency, he had also been in-charge of the Vigilance and Administration Department.
Senior Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer Rahul Naveen is considered an expert in International Taxation, Foreign Exchange Management Act and Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). During his tenure in ED, he has been involved in monitoring all high-profile investigations.
Took B.Tech and M.Tech degree from IIT Kanpur, did MBA from Melbourne.
IRS Rahul Naveen obtained B.Tech and M.Tech degrees from IIT Kanpur. Apart from this, he has done MBA from Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne.
