India’s strength in the Indo-Pacific region is now clearly visible. Indian Navy’s high-tech warship IANS Nilgiri is making the world aware of India’s strategic presence by taking part in the sea phase of Exercise Kakadu 2026 being held in Australia.
Through this exercise, India is working with other countries to strengthen coordination, cooperation and maritime security. Giving information on social media platform X, the Navy said that the purpose of this exercise is to further strengthen mutual coordination, cooperation and maritime understanding between other navies. Besides, it also strengthens the partnership between countries regarding maritime security in the Indo-Pacific region.

Let us tell you that Exercise Kakadu is a major international naval exercise organized by Australia, in which many naval forces of the Indo-Pacific region participate and jointly practice many maritime operations.

Taragiri is going to join the navy
Meanwhile, to increase its strength in the blue sea, the Navy is inducting many indigenous warships one after the other. Preparations have intensified towards India becoming completely self-reliant by 2047. New indigenous platforms are continuously being inducted into the Navy. In this series, Nilgiri class advanced guided stealth frigate Taragiri is going to join the Navy under Project 17A.
According to the official statement issued by the Navy, Taragiri will be formally inducted into the Navy next month i.e. on 3 April in Visakhapatnam. On this occasion, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh himself will dedicate this guided missile frigate to the Navy. In the beginning of the year 2026, Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft Anjadeep was also inducted into the Navy.
