Pakistan does not leave any opportunity to spew venom against India. In the midst of the war raging in Western Asia, former High Commissioner of Pakistan Abdul Basit has made a strong complaint about India. Referring to a hypothetical situation, he said that if America attacks Pakistan then Islamabad should target India.
Basit’s provocative statement
Basit said, ‘Imagine if America attacks Pakistan, then Pakistan should drop bombs on cities like India’s capital Delhi and Mumbai.’ His provocative statement came at a time when it has been three weeks since the war broke out between America, Israel and Iran and there are concerns about security even at the regional level. The conflict with the neighboring country also continues with Afghanistan.
His argument was that even if Pakistan was out of reach of its direct targets, it should ‘never give up’ its intention to target Indian metros. This argument indicates how dirty Pakistan has a mentality towards India. By taking the names of Mumbai and New Delhi, Basit is not only reliving the pain of terrorist attacks like 26/11, but is also telling the world that India is the only way to resolve Pakistan’s military frustrations.
Poison spewed in TV debate
Abdul Basit said in a TV debate with ABN News, ‘Suppose, the situation in Iran gets worse. Israel comes and sits in our neighbourhood. Such a situation arises where America also looks at our nuclear program with a bad eye, or tries to destroy our nuclear capability, which is impossible.
He further said, ‘But, I am talking about the worst situation, which is impossible, because Pakistan has enough capacity to defend itself, but, if such a situation arises that if America attacks Pakistan… America is not in our nuclear range, we cannot even reach their bases in the regional areas or we cannot even attack Israel, then what will be the way for us.’
‘We have to attack India’
Basit again made a strange statement. He said, ‘We have seen, nothing else should be done. Even if our range does not reach America and someone casts an evil eye on us, we will have to attack India without thinking. Tax has to be paid on Mumbai, tax has to be paid on New Delhi. We don’t have to leave. Whatever happens later remains to be seen. We will have no other option if America attacks us, which is impossible. So the world should know that if someone casts a blind eye on us, we will not step back without giving a reply. Concluding his speech, he said that although India would not want this nor do we want such a situation. We would like them not to look at us with dirty eyes.
Who is Abdul Basit?
Abdul Basit has been the former High Commissioner of Pakistan, he was also the High Commissioner of India for three years. Apart from India, he has held senior positions in Pakistani embassies in many countries. He had also been Pakistan’s Ambassador to Germany from 2012 to 2014. His tenure in India started from 2014, after which he stayed here for three years. His poisonous words came to light when he himself had worked in these cities.
