A video of a woman police officer’s abusive language conversation with a student during a student protest at Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies (RGUKT), Basar, has gone viral. This video has created a stir in political circles and has increased pressure on the Congress government.
In the viral video, a female police officer can be heard asking a student, ‘Who makes that video?’ This language is not only unparliamentary but is completely contrary to the dignity of the uniform. The student to whom this was said was a student of IIIT Basar who along with her colleagues was protesting peacefully for her demands. This is even more shocking because the officer herself is a woman and she behaved this way with a female student.
BRS targets Congress government
BRS spokesperson Dr. Krishnank condemned this incident in strong words and directly attacked the Congress government. He said that this indecent and derogatory language of the police officer against the girl students of RGUKT Basar exposes the mentality of the Congress government. Krishnank demanded that immediate action should be taken against the concerned officer and a public apology should be made to the girl students.
Students of IIIT Basar have been raising their voice for many demands for a long time. These issues like bad food, lack of basic facilities and non-appointment of a permanent Vice Chancellor have been coming up again and again. When the police came to stop the protest and such language was used, the anger among the girl students became even deeper. After the video surfaced, there is huge outrage on social media and netizens are calling it another example of police misbehavior with the girl students of the institute.
No response came from the police administration
There has been no official response yet from the police department and the Congress government. The question remains that how did the policeman, who is herself a woman, adopt this attitude towards a female student and whether the government will take any action in this matter.
