AIADMK MP CV Shanmugam on Tuesday (March 17) took a jibe at Chief Minister MK Stalin’s ‘Tell us your dream’ campaign and mentioned actress Nayanthara. There has been an uproar since his controversial statement. From political parties to South India Film Artists Association, his statement has been criticized.

What did the AIADMK MP say?

In fact, AIADMK MP CV Shanmugam had participated in the party’s protest in Viluppuram against the Stalin government in the state. During this, MP Shanmugam’s tongue slipped. Referring to actress Nayanthara, he said about Chief Minister Stalin, ‘Abdul Kalam had told us to dream. Stalin said that we should share our dreams with others. If I say I want Nayanthara, will Stalin fulfill my dream? If someone demands Stalin to marry Nayanthara, will he fulfill his dream?

South Artists Association wrote a letter

South India Film Artistes Association has written a letter to AIADMK MP CV Shanmugam regarding his recent comment on actress Nayanthara, calling it derogatory and shameful. The letter read, ‘We have received a very insulting and shameful video of your recent speech. Unfortunately, you violated parliamentary decorum and made highly objectionable remarks over the public address system, in which we also dragged our colleague actress Nayanthara. Is this your ideology? Did your leaders encourage you to speak like this, or do they support such comments?’

The letter further said, ‘You still deserve respect as a representative elected by the public, therefore we, members of the film fraternity, collectively and in one voice, demand an apology from you. We also want an assurance from you that you will not make derogatory comments about women associated with our industry in future.
