Amidst the increasing tension and recent protests in Iran, the Indian Embassy in Tehran has strongly advised all Indian citizens to leave the country immediately. The embassy said in an advisory issued on Friday that Indians including students, pilgrims, businessmen and tourists should leave Iran by all available means, including commercial flights. This advisory is a revision of the previous advisories of January 5, 2026 and January 14, 2026, but now the situation is said to be more serious.
What was said in the advisory?
The embassy wrote, ‘In view of the current situation in Iran, Indian citizens (students, pilgrims, businessmen and tourists) are advised to leave Iran by all available means including commercial flights. The advisory of 14 January 2026 reiterates that all Indian citizens and PIOs should remain alert, stay away from areas where protests or demonstrations are taking place, remain in touch with the Indian Embassy and keep an eye on local media. The Embassy further said that all Indians should always keep their passport, ID and other travel documents ready. Contact the embassy for any help.
