The city police immediately took cognizance of the incident of alleged ruckus by some people near Jama Masjid in Amberpet area of Hyderabad city. The incident took place on Thursday evening, when some anti-social elements created noise around the mosque and tried to create disturbance in the area.
Giving information about the matter, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) said that the Mosque Committee has lodged some complaints. He has advised the committee to lodge a formal complaint at Amberpet Police Station. Police clarified that after receiving the complaint, appropriate action will be taken as per law.

At the time of Namaz, some people were gathered outside the mosque, who were raising slogans and obstructing the movement. Local people say that there was a sudden commotion, which created an atmosphere of fear among the nearby residents. The members of the mosque committee spoke to the police and said that due to such elements the peace around the religious place is being disturbed. DCP North Zone reached the spot and pacified the people. The police have assured that the investigation will be completely fair and strict action will be taken against the culprits.
Controversies have happened many times before
Controversies related to mosques and religious places in Amberpet have come up in the past also. In 2019, there were protests here after the demolition of a mosque, in which the police had to intervene and some people were detained. Then the structure was removed for road widening, which increased the tension. In recent years too, there have been complaints about noise or encroachment at some places.
Local residents say that in a city like Hyderabad where people of all religions live together, such small disturbances disturb the peace. The mosque committee has appealed that people should exercise restraint and if there is any dispute, contact the police or administration. Police say that they are increasing surveillance in the area so that no untoward incident happens.
