The temple of education suddenly turned into a hospital scene in Telangana’s Khammam district, when the condition of dozens of students at a government primary school deteriorated after eating the mid-day meal. This incident that took place on Thursday in this school located in Bodiya Tanda of Konijerla Mandal revealed the negligence of the administration. The carelessly cooked food proved to be poison for about 32 innocent children, causing them to complain of vomiting, diarrhea and severe stomach pain and they had to be immediately admitted to the Khammam Government Hospital.
What information did the local people give?
According to the villagers and parents present at the spot, lunch was distributed in the school of Khammam district, but soon after eating the food, the health of the children started deteriorating. One by one the children started vomiting and suffering from stomach pain. Immediately, with the help of local people and teachers, all the victim students were taken to the district hospital. According to the doctors, the condition of all the children is now out of danger and preparations are being made to discharge them after giving them first aid, but this incident has left a big question mark on the security system.
This is not the first time that serious questions have been raised regarding cleanliness and quality of food in schools in the tribal areas of Telangana state. There are often complaints of lack of cleanliness and poor quality of ingredients while preparing mid-day meals in schools in Tanda areas. This incident has once again raised questions on the rules that claim to provide nutritious food to children.
