Election activity is beginning to be seen in West Bengal. Now its murmur started being heard even in Delhi. Opposition from TMC is being seen after the ED action in West Bengal on Thursday. In such a situation, on Friday, Trinamool Congress MPs were seen protesting outside the Delhi office of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, i.e. the Home Ministry. During this time, the police deployed at the spot removed everyone from there. Two TMC MPs Mahua Moitra and Derek O’Brien have been taken into custody.
Now Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has condemned this entire matter. While sharing the post on X, she hit out, saying, ‘I strongly condemn the shameful and unfair treatment meted out to our MPs. It is not illegal in any way for the elected representatives to protest outside the Home Minister’s office using their democratic rights. Nor is dragging them in favor of any legal action. This is arrogance in uniform. This is democracy. BJP does not have personal property.
‘Democracy does not work at the convenience of those in power’
He said, ‘Democracy does not run at the convenience or comfort of those in power. When BJP leaders protest, they expect a red carpet. When opposition MPs raise their voice, they are dragged. Is taken into custody. Is insulted. This double standard shows the democratic idea of BJP. Obedience is not protest.
‘Respect is mutual’
Mamta Banerjee said, ‘This should be made clear. Respect is mutual. You will respect us, we will respect you. You will drag us on the street, and we will bring you back to the constitutional idea of tolerance, dissent and democratic morality. This is our India. We have civil rights. Not at the mercy of any chair or power. No government, no party and no Home Minister can decide who deserves dignity and respect in a democracy.
Police arrested the MPs
On Friday, TMC MPs Derek O’Brien, Shatabdi Roy, Mahua Moitra, Kirti Azad and others demonstrated outside the Home Ministry office. During this, they raised slogans against Home Minister Amit Shah. Meanwhile, the police came and arrested the protesting MPs and others. The arrested MPs include Derek O’Brien, Mahua Moitra and other protesters. The police took them in the van.
