Karnataka Bus Accident: How did the Karnataka bus accident happen? Driver told the horror story of his last moments – ‘I failed…’

On the incident of a truck colliding with a bus late on Wednesday (24 December 2025) in Chitradurga district of Karnataka, the bus driver said that after seeing the truck coming at high speed from the opposite direction, he tried to control his vehicle, but failed.

A speeding container truck hit a private luxury sleeper bus near Hiriyur around 2 am on Wednesday, causing the bus to catch fire and at least nine people died, a senior police officer said.

‘I saw a vehicle coming from the front’

Bus driver Rafiq was injured in this accident and is undergoing treatment. He told reporters, ‘The truck came from the other side of the divider on the road and collided. The speed of the truck was very fast. At that time I was driving the bus at a speed of 60 to 70 kilometers per hour. I saw the vehicle coming from the front. I only remember that the truck collided with the bus, I don’t know what happened after that and how I was taken out.

‘I couldn’t control’

The bus driver said, ‘I tried to control the bus after seeing the vehicle coming from the front. My bus also touched another vehicle going from the side. I don’t know which vehicle it was, but I could not control it. Bus driver Mohammad Sadiq suffered minor injuries in the accident and is also being treated.

Sadiq told that the collision was so strong that he fell out of the bus. He said, ‘The truck coming from the front hit me. I was in the front part of the bus and was sleeping at the time of the accident. Due to the impact of the collision, the glass of the bus broke and I fell out.
