Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Nadia district of West Bengal was affected due to dense fog on Friday. Due to low visibility, his helicopter could not land at Taherpur helipad and after hovering for some time returned back to Kolkata Airport. Officials said that due to bad weather the flight had to be canceled midway.
Landing could not be done at Taherpur helipad
According to the information, PM Modi’s helicopter kept hovering over the Taherpur helipad for some time in the afternoon, but due to very low visibility due to fog, the pilot decided to take a U-turn if a safe landing was not possible. Till the latest information came, Prime Minister Narendra Modi remained present at Kolkata Airport. During this period, the administration and security agencies were continuously monitoring the weather.
Consideration of going by road or virtual address
According to officials, it is being considered whether an attempt should be made to go to Teherdpur by helicopter once the weather clears or the Prime Minister should reach the venue by road. There is also an option for PM Modi to address the rally through virtual medium.

Large crowd gathered in Taherpur
Meanwhile, a large number of people were seen waiting for the Prime Minister near Taherpur helipad. The video showed that a huge crowd of supporters and party workers was already present around the venue.
Prime Minister reached Kolkata in the morning
Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Kolkata at around 10.40 am. He was scheduled to attend a rally organized in Taherpur in Nadia district, which is about 100 kilometers from Kolkata.
Highway projects were to be inaugurated
According to the plan, PM Modi was to reach Taherpur and inaugurate several national highway projects in the state. After this he had to address Bharatiya Janata Party’s rally ‘Parivartan Sankalp Sabha’.
