40 thousand blades are used daily for mundan in Tirupati temple, this businessman donated Rs 1.20 crore

The board of Sri Venkateshwara Swamy Temple, one of the richest Hindu temples in India, has received a special donation to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD). A businessman from Hyderabad has donated half blades worth Rs 1 crore 20 lakh for the Mundan rituals of the temple.

A large number of devotees donate hair in the temple

Actually, devotees donate their hair in large numbers in Tirupati temple. Businessman B Sridhar donated a large number of half blades, worth around Rs 1.20 crore, to meet the annual requirement of Kalyanakattas (mundan centres).

According to news agency PTI, ‘Hyderabad businessman B Sridhar has donated half blades worth Rs 1.2 crore to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam.’

40 thousand half blades are used daily in the temple.
TTD Chairman BR Naidu said the temple body spends around Rs 1.1 crore every year on blades used to shave the hair of devotees, who offer their hair to the deity. He told that about 40 thousand half blades are used daily in Kalyankattas and with the donation of Sridhar, the needs of the temple will be met for the whole year.
