Indigo Airline has given a big update regarding the compensation and refund process for passengers after the recent flight crisis. The company said that the process of giving compensation to the passengers will start from January next year. The airline had said that passengers whose flights were canceled or delayed within 24 hours of the scheduled time, would be given a compensation of Rs 10,000.
At present the biggest focus of the company is on the refund process. The company said that the process of identifying such passengers is still going on and from January 2026 next year, IndiGo will start contacting all these passengers so that compensation can be given properly. Indigo said that most of the refunds of the affected passengers have been completed and the rest will also be cleared soon.
The total compensation amount may exceed Rs 500 crore
The airline also said that the total compensation amount could exceed Rs 500 crore, which will be given to passengers whose flights were canceled at the last moment or who were badly stranded at the airport. Appealing for patience and cooperation from passengers, Indigo said that it will complete the entire process and resolve all matters by December-January.
Indigo indicated that operations would be normal
After the flight crisis of Indigo airline, there are signs of normalization of the situation. Indigo said that its flight operations are becoming normal since last four days. All its 138 operational destinations are fully connected and ontime performance is also normal as per IndiGo standards.
How many flights did Indigo operate in the last four days?
IndiGo said it operated more than 2,000 flights under its revised schedule on Friday (December 12, 2025). At the same time, on Thursday (December 11, 2025), the airline operated more than 1,950 flights, out of which only 4 flights had to be canceled due to bad weather. Apart from this, IndiGo operated 1,900 flights on December 10, 1,800 on December 9 and 1,700 flights on December 8.
