Karnataka Politics: Second breakfast meeting of Siddaramaiah-DK Shivakumar, now will the decision be taken in Delhi?

The ongoing internal tussle over power in Karnataka Congress is once again in the headlines. A breakfast meeting was held for the second time today between Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar. This meeting took place at a time when memories of the old agreement regarding power-sharing are becoming fresh again.

Siddaramaiah said after the meeting that he came for breakfast on the invitation of DK Shivakumar. Both the leaders discussed in detail the upcoming winter session, possible strategy of the opposition and issues related to farmers like sugarcane, maize etc. On the other hand, DK Shivakumar described the meeting as a collective effort towards continuing good governance in the state.

A proven way of conveying a message in politics
These meetings are not limited to just breakfast, but are also a proven way of conveying messages in politics. Since the big victory of Congress in the 2023 assembly elections, the silent power game regarding leadership within the party is continuing. It is believed that an agreement was reached in the presence of the party high command, in which the distribution of power was fixed for two and a half years of the five-year government. First a chance for Siddaramaiah and then DK Shivakumar.

Now that two and a half years have passed, the DK Shivkumar faction is reminding us of this agreement. On the other hand, Siddaramaiah wants to complete his tenure citing his work and popularity. This is the reason why the party high command has to intervene again and again. Mallikarjun Kharge had recently given a strong message to both the leaders that keeping the promise is necessary for the credibility of the party.

The menu was also discussed in two breakfast meetings.
Amidst all this, the interesting thing is that the menu was also discussed in two breakfast meetings. For the first time, Idli-Sambhar and Upma were discussed, while for the second time, Nati Chicken and Idli were discussed. Although the matter seems to be calm at present, there is speculation in political circles that this tussle may re-emerge after the assembly session. Some leaders, citing astrological reasons, say that the situation may change after Makar Sankranti. This tussle in Karnataka politics is not just a fight between two leaders, but an issue related to the credibility of Congress in the entire South India. Therefore, the high command is taking every step carefully, but the big question still remains that when will there be a change of leadership?
