A heart-wrenching case has come to light from Tamil Nadu, where a woman living away from home was murdered by her husband by cutting him with a sickle. This case pertains to a women’s hostel in Coimbatore. On Sunday (November 30), a woman from Tirunelveli was brutally murdered by her husband in a women’s hostel. This incident has spread anger over increasing crimes against women in the state.
Sripriya, who worked in a private company in Coimbatore, was separated from her husband Balamurugan and was living in a hostel. Balamurugan reached the hostel to meet Sripriya on Sunday afternoon, hiding a sickle in his clothes. According to investigators, an argument broke out between the two soon after they met. Suddenly Balamurugan allegedly took out a sickle and killed him in the hostel itself.
Balamurugan took selfie with the dead body
Police said that the shocking thing is that after killing his wife, Balamurugan took a selfie with the dead body and also uploaded it on his WhatsApp status. He claimed that his wife had cheated on him.
Murder on suspicion of wife’s affair with someone else
Fearing this incident, people ran out of the hostel. However, even after the murder, Balamurugan did not run away, rather he remained at the spot and waited until the police arrived. The police arrested him on the spot and also recovered the weapon. Initial investigation reveals that he suspected that his wife was having an affair with another man.
Debate on women’s safety intensifies in Tamil Nadu
This murder has intensified the political debate regarding women’s safety in Tamil Nadu. The opposition is accusing the ruling DMK government of deteriorating law and order situation and failing to protect women. However, the DMK government and the state police say that these are isolated incidents motivated by personal enmity. He stressed that prompt action is being taken in every such case so that speedy justice and maximum punishment can be ensured.
