Two people died, while 3 were seriously injured in a terrible road accident on Wednesday on the National Highway near Booth Cross Road in Neridigonda mandal of Telangana. This accident happened after a private passenger bus hit a lorry from behind.
According to the information received, when the private travels bus going from Hyderabad to Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh reached near Neridigonda at around 3 in the morning, it suddenly hit a lorry going ahead. The collision was so severe that the front part of the bus was badly damaged. Immediately after the incident, two passengers traveling in the bus died on the spot. Efforts are being made to identify the dead.
3 seriously injured, total 60 passengers were in the bus
Three other passengers have been seriously injured in the accident, who have been immediately admitted to the nearby Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) for treatment, where their condition remains critical. As soon as the information was received, police and local people reached the spot and launched a rescue operation and pulled out the injured from the wreckage of the bus.
There were a total of 60 passengers in the bus. Except for the injured and the dead, other passengers have suffered minor injuries or are safe. Police have registered the case and started investigating the cause of the accident. In the initial investigation, negligence of the bus driver and high speed are being considered as the main reasons for the accident. It is suspected that this accident may have happened due to the driver dozing off. Police are interrogating both the lorry driver and the bus driver.
What did the eyewitness say?
An eyewitness said, “Suddenly there was a terrible noise and then screams. When we reached the spot, the scene was heart-wrenching. People were covered in blood and screaming for help.”
This accident once again raises serious questions about the lack of safety measures on the National Highway and the safety of passengers in long distance buses. Those responsible need to take immediate concrete steps to stop such incidents, so that more lives can be saved.
