Taking major action, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested Amit Katyal, the main accused in real estate fraud and considered close to Lalu Prasad Yadav, on Tuesday (November 17, 2025). After his arrest, Katyal was produced in the special PMLA court in Gurugram, from where the court sent him to 6-day custody.
ED’s investigation is based on the FIRs which were registered by Gurugram Police and Delhi EOW. The allegation was that Katyal took money from people in the Krrish Florence Estate housing project being built in Sector-70 of Gurugram, but no flats were given to anyone. This project was to be built on 14 acres of land, but was not completed even in more than 10 years.
ED What was revealed in the investigation?,
ED’s investigation revealed that Amit Katyal misused the documents related to the license of another developer. DTCP collected crores of rupees from people without taking license from Haryana. In this way a scam of more than Rs 300 crore came to light. Only 3 towers were erected in the entire project, even those were not completed. On the complaint of home buyers, the insolvency process on the project started.
Katyal took fake bookings on central government projects
According to ED, this project was for central government employees, but fake bookings were made in it. The money taken from buyers was spent on other purposes instead of being invested in the project. Investigation also revealed that while the insolvency case was pending, Katyal sold 2 acres of land (worth around Rs 130 crore) at a very low price. ED has called it a blatant misuse of law and procedure.
ED also found out that Katyal had diverted loans worth several crores of rupees taken from a government bank to other places. The bank suffered a loss of about Rs 80 crore. Accusations in many other projects also, FIR has been registered against Amit Katyal in many cases before. These projects include Krish World (Sector 63, Gurugram), Province Estate and some other real estate projects. The agency says that there may be bigger revelations ahead.
