Nehru promoted education, science and industrialization and is always remembered for his sensitivity towards Indian children. He strengthened the principles of democracy, secularism and social justice. His foresight and leadership helped make India an economically and socially developed nation after independence. His birth anniversary is celebrated as Chacha Nehru Jayanti on 14 November.
