On Monday (November 03, 2025), the voices of those families whose children are trapped in the Russian battlefield echoed at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar. From Jaipur in Rajasthan to Punjab, Haryana and Telangana, more than 20 such families reached Jantar Mantar and demanded the government to bring their children back to India as soon as possible.
Families plead at Jantar Mantar, ‘Bring back our children’. On Monday, dozens of families from across the country gathered at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar and appealed to the government to bring their children back to India as soon as possible. These families say that their sons were sent to Russia on the pretext of job or studies, but now they are forced to fight on the frontline of the Russia-Ukraine war.
Forced recruitment of Indian youth in Russian army
Family members from states like Jaipur, Punjab, Haryana and Telangana told that while sending the children abroad, they were told that they would have to work in a factory or study in a college, but after reaching Russia, they were forcibly recruited into the Russian Army and sent directly to the war zone.
Many youths told their families through video calls or voice messages that they had been handed over weapons and now they were not able to return home. The families involved in the protest accused the Foreign Ministry and the Russian Embassy that till now they are only hearing things like ‘efforts are on’, but no concrete steps or results are visible.
More than 20 Indian families affected
A protesting father said, ‘We met the Foreign Ministry, they said talks are going on, but our sons are still in the war.’ According to the information, till now more than 20 Indian families have come forward with such cases. These include youth from Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana and Telangana. The death of some youth has been confirmed, while many have not been contacted yet.
Families say that Indians are being deliberately sent to the frontline because they are foreigners and the value of their lives is not understood. Earlier in the country, reports of investigative agencies have revealed that a human trafficking network operating in India sends youth to Russia by luring them with ‘jobs abroad’ or ‘higher education’. As soon as they reach there, the agents confiscate their passports and documents and put them in Russian Army training under the pretext of ‘non-combat work’. CBI had made several arrests in this connection earlier also.

Pain of many youth on social media
Videos of some youths have surfaced on social media in which they are crying and saying, ‘We have been sent to the frontline, please save us.’ These videos have shocked the entire country. The biggest concern of the families is that if the government does not take immediate action, more lives may be lost.
He says that this is not just a matter of 20 families, but the lives of hundreds of Indian youth are in danger. There was only one hope in the eyes of the family members sitting at Jantar Mantar that the Government of India should take immediate action and their children should return to their homeland safely.

Government of India consoles the affected families
On behalf of the Government of India, the Ministry of External Affairs has said that it is in touch with the Russian authorities and efforts are being made to bring back the affected citizens as soon as possible. Also, citizens have been warned not to fall prey to any fake agent or dubious job offer.
Now it is not enough for the family members to just say ‘efforts are on’. Their clear demand is that the government should take concrete steps, bring back the youth trapped in Russia and take strict action against those agents who threw India’s sons into the battlefield.
