Weather Forecast: Cold will hit late in North India, rain will affect South India, know the weather forecast.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has said in its new report that this year winter will start later than usual in North India. Temperatures in most parts of the country during November 2025 are likely to be normal or slightly below normal. Meteorologists say that this time the weather will be under the influence of La Niña and negative Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD).

IMD said that South India will see good rains in the month of November. Northeast Monsoon will be fully active in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, Rayalaseema and South Karnataka. Generally, about 118.7 mm rainfall is recorded in this area during this period. However, rainfall may be less than normal in some areas of North-West India and Southern Peninsula.

Rain alert in Punjab and Himachal
IMD has issued a warning saying that there may be light to moderate rain in many parts of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. Rain is expected in Punjab for two days from Tuesday (4 November 2025), due to which the temperature may drop by about 2–3°C. There is a possibility of rain with thunder and lightning in Himachal Pradesh on 4th and 5th November. Yellow alert has been issued in Una, Kangra, Mandi, Shimla and Solan districts.

There will be fluctuations in temperature
The day’s maximum temperature was recorded at 32.7°C in Mansa, Punjab, while the night’s minimum temperature in Bathinda was 12.8°C. The nights of cities like Sundernagar, Palampur and Bhuntar of Himachal Pradesh were colder than the capital Shimla. It is clear from this that the day is still hot, but the nights are gradually becoming cold.

The effect of La Nina and IOD will be visible
According to IMD scientists, La Nina conditions will remain active till December 2025. Due to this, rainfall may increase in South India, but cold will start late in North India. At the same time, due to negative IOD, fluctuations in temperature and rainfall will be seen in different parts of the country.

The days are pleasant, the nights are a little warm
Day temperatures in November will be normal or slightly below normal, while night temperatures are likely to be above normal. This means that this time the cold will not increase suddenly, but gradually. IMD has said that the weather of November will be comfortable but unstable. That means mornings will be pleasant, days will be mild and nights will be slightly warmer than normal.
