A major scandal broke out during a film audition on Thursday (October 30, 2025) afternoon at RA Studio in Powai area of Mumbai. What started as a simple casting call quickly turned into a dangerous 35-minute drama. The Quick Reaction Team of Mumbai Police acted swiftly and saved 17 children, an elderly person and a woman. During this, the attacker, 38-year-old Rohit Arya, was injured by police bullets and later died in the hospital.
Police entered through the bathroom, operation ended in 35 minutes
An eight-member commando team of the police entered through the bathroom and attacked, so that the attacker could be surprised and the lives of the children would not be in danger. The commander first tried to solve the matter peacefully by talking to Arya, but he showed the gun and chemicals and threatened that if anyone came near, he would open fire and open fire. When he fired, the police returned fire and injured him. Later it was found out that his gun was an air gun, but the police said, ‘No risk could be taken at that time.’
All 17 children were rescued safely
There was a lot of chaos in the audition room. Children were hiding in corners out of fear. The commando team moved forward slowly and took out all the children safely. After medical examination of all, they were handed over to their family members.
Chemicals and lighter found at the spot
The forensic team has seized air gun, some chemicals and lighter. Officials believe that the accused was planning a big explosion or arson. All the evidence has now been sent to the lab for testing. Powai Police received a call at around 2 pm that a person had taken children hostage in RA Studio and was threatening to set them on fire. Police immediately surrounded the area and called in officers to negotiate. Meanwhile, Arya was playing a live video and saying that his demands were not about money but ‘related to morality and justice’.
The accused was under mental stress
In the video found after the incident, Arya said- I am not a terrorist, I do not want money. I just want to question some people. If anyone makes a mistake, I will burn everything. According to the police, Rohit Arya worked at R Studio and also ran a YouTube channel. He was calling children for many days in the name of film audition. It is learned that he had earlier done a school project related to the education department, but was angry over not getting payment and had even protested outside the house of former minister Deepak Kesarkar. Police suspect that he took this dangerous step out of anger and mental stress.
Death during treatment, investigation ongoing
Arya was taken to the hospital after being shot, but he died during treatment. Now the police is examining his videos, social media and old records to find out why he took the step of taking him hostage.
