In a major breakthrough, Mumbai Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has arrested Danish Merchant alias Danish Chikna, a close associate of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim. This action of NCB was taken in Goa. Danish Chikna was active in smuggling of MD drugs (methamphetamine) for a long time and is said to have deep connections with a big drugs syndicate running in Mumbai.
Danish Merchant alias Danish Chikna, close to underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, was also arrested by the police in the year 2024 in drug cases. At that time, the police had arrested Danish and his associate Kader Ghulam Shaikh alias Kadir Fanta by conducting a well-planned operation in Dongri area. There have always been allegations against Danish Merchant that he runs drugs operations in Dongri area for Dawood Ibrahim and is a major part of the drugs network spread in Mumbai.
Arrest in case related to 2019
This is not the first time that Danish Merchant’s name has surfaced in drug cases. In 2019, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) had busted a drug factory linked to Dawood Ibrahim in Dongri. Drugs worth crores of rupees were seized in that operation. At that time Danish Merchant was arrested from Rajasthan and he was released again. After his release, he again started activating the drug network, which is why he was under surveillance for a long time. NCB and Mumbai Police believe that Dawood’s drug network has been kept alive in India only through local operators like Danish.
Also arrested from Kota, Rajasthan
Four years ago in the year 2021, he was also arrested from Kota, Rajasthan. He was then arrested after charas was recovered during a search of a car. Let us tell you that the drug supply chain of the underworld in India has been the target of security agencies for a long time. Dawood Ibrahim’s network is accused of using the money coming from the narcotics business for money laundering through hawala and illegal real estate investments.
