In his career, he had made a place in the hearts of people by playing memorable characters like ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro’, ‘Main Hoon Na’ and the TV show ‘Sarabhai vs Sarabhai’.

Satish Shah, born on 25 June 1951, was one of the most versatile actors of Indian film and TV. He became a household name by playing the role of corrupt Municipal Commissioner D’Mello in ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro’ (1983). In the TV serial ‘Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi’ (1984), he played 55 different characters in 55 episodes, which are remembered even today.

Satish Shah acted in many superhit films in his career – his presence in films like ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’, ‘Hum Aapke Hain Koun’, ‘Main Hoon Na’, ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’, ‘Om Shanti Om’, ‘Fanaa’, ‘Kaho Na Pyaar Hai’, ‘Mujhse Shaadi Karogi’ and ‘Judwaa’ made the audience laugh a lot. He was a graduate of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) and was always appreciated for his acting.
Illness and demise
Shah’s associate Ashok Pandit said that the actor died due to kidney failure. He had a kidney transplant three months ago. His health suddenly deteriorated on Saturday afternoon. He was taken to Hinduja Hospital, where he breathed his last. According to the hospital’s statement, the doctors tried their best but could not save him.

The last rites of Satish Shah will be performed at Pawan Hans cremation ground on Sunday. His family, friends and people from the film industry have expressed deep condolences on his demise.
