PM Modi and Amit Shah expressed condolences on the demise of veteran Bollywood actor Satish Shah.


Famous actor of Indian cinema and TV world, Satish Shah passed away on Saturday. He was 74 years old. Shah’s manager confirmed this news. In his career, he had made a place in the hearts of people by playing memorable characters like ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro’, ‘Main Hoon Na’ and the TV show ‘Sarabhai vs Sarabhai’.

Prime Minister Modi paid tribute
Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to Satish Shah on X. He wrote, ‘Deeply saddened by the demise of Satish Shah ji. He was a true legend of the Indian entertainment world. His excellent comedy and brilliant acting brought smiles on the faces of crores of people. Condolences to his family and fans. Om Shanti.’

Amit Shah said – irreparable loss to the cinema world.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also expressed condolences on social media. He wrote, ‘I am deeply saddened by the demise of Satish Shah ji, who brought smiles on people’s faces with his acting for four decades. His acting and gentle personality mesmerized everyone in the cinema world. May God give peace to the departed soul.

Satish Shah, born on 25 June 1951, was one of the most versatile actors of Indian film and TV. He became a household name by playing the role of corrupt Municipal Commissioner D’Mello in ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro’ (1983). In the TV serial ‘Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi’ (1984), he played 55 different characters in 55 episodes, which are remembered even today.

Played important roles in many superhit films
Satish Shah acted in many superhit films in his career – his presence in films like ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’, ‘Hum Aapke Hain Koun’, ‘Main Hoon Na’, ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’, ‘Om Shanti Om’, ‘Fanaa’, ‘Kaho Na Pyaar Hai’, ‘Mujhse Shaadi Karogi’ and ‘Judwaa’ made the audience laugh a lot. He was a graduate of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) and was always appreciated for his acting.

Illness and demise
Shah’s associate Ashok Pandit said that the actor died due to kidney failure. He had a kidney transplant three months ago. His health suddenly deteriorated on Saturday afternoon. He was taken to Hinduja Hospital, where he breathed his last. According to the hospital’s statement, the doctors tried their best but could not save him.

The last rites of Satish Shah will be performed at Pawan Hans cremation ground on Sunday. His family, friends and people from the film industry have expressed deep condolences on his demise. Filmmaker Farah Khan wrote on Instagram, ‘Dear Satish, may your soul rest in peace. Working with you was a wonderful experience. Will miss the jokes and memes you sent every day.

Emotional message from the team of ‘Sarabhai vs Sarabhai’
The team of the popular show ‘Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai’ remembered Satish Shah for his playful, lively and cheerful nature. Producer JD Majithia, and co-stars Sumeet Raghavan and Rajesh Kumar said they were shocked and deeply saddened by the news.
