‘Modi government has played with faith’, Rahul Gandhi calls running of 12,000 special trains for Chhath a lie

The Congress party on Saturday (October 25, 2025) accused the PM Modi-led central government of playing with the faith of the people of Bihar and the state. Former Congress Party President Rahul Gandhi said that the Modi government has lied in the name of running 12,000 special trains during festivals and has played with the faith of the people of Bihar and the state.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi asked the central government where are the 12,000 special trains? In fact, the Railway Ministry had recently released the list of 12,011 rail journeys (train trips) scheduled from October 1 to November 30, 2025. It was told that in view of the huge crowd during festivals, on an average 196 special trains are being run every day from different places of the country. Till now, the highest number of special trains operated in a day was around 280 on October 18, while the lowest was around 166 on October 8.

Rahul Gandhi posted video on social media

Rahul Gandhi shared the video related to the crowd of passengers in some trains on social media platform X. He wrote in his post, ‘It is the month of festivals – Diwali, Bhaidooj, Chhath. In Bihar, these festivals mean not only faith but also the longing to return home. The fragrance of the soil, the affection of the family, the familiarity of the village. But this longing has now become a struggle.

He said, ‘The trains going to Bihar are jam-packed, it is impossible to get tickets and the journey has become inhumane. Many trains are carrying passengers up to 200 percent of their capacity. People (passengers) are traveling hanging from doors and even rooftops.

Rahul Gandhi raised the issue of employment in Bihar

He alleged that the claims of ‘failed double engine government’ are hollow. The Congress leader asked, ‘Where are the 12,000 special trains? Why does the situation get worse every year? Why are the people of Bihar forced to return home every year in such humiliating conditions?

Rahul Gandhi said that if he had got employment and a respectable life in the state, he would not have had to wander thousands of kilometers away. He claimed, ‘These are not just forced passengers, they are living proof of the deceitful policies and intentions of the NDA. Traveling safely and respectfully is a right, not a favor.

PM Along with Modi, Nitish Kumar is betraying the people of the state – Akhilesh

Rajya Sabha member and Congress leader Akhilesh Prasad Singh told reporters, ‘Chhath is the biggest festival of folk faith. This festival is very special for Bihar and the people of Bihar. It was a great relief to hear that at that time, Prime Minister Modi and the Railway Minister announced that people would be transported to their homes through 12,000 trains, but only 1,500 trains were run.

The Congress leader alleged that the Modi government told this lie to get votes during the elections and played with the faith of the people. He said, ‘This is not the first case. (Prime Minister) Narendra Modi has betrayed the people of Bihar and the state many times. Prime Minister Modi’s colleague Nitish Kumar is also doing the same thing.
