Defense Minister Rajnath Singh visited the forward areas of Longewala in Rajasthan on Friday (October 24, 2025). Here the Defense Minister described ‘Operation Sindoor’ as a symbol of India’s military power and national character. He said that this is not just a military operation, but a symbol of the courage and restraint of the nation.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said, ‘Operation Sindoor will go down in history not just as a military operation, but as an example of India’s moral discipline, strategic clarity and human dignity.’ He also reviewed the security situation and operational preparedness of the Indian Army during the Army Commanders Conference in Jaisalmer.

On the situation on the northern border with China, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said that the ongoing talks and de-escalation efforts are proof of India’s balanced and firm foreign policy. He said, ‘Our policy is clear. There will be dialogue and our preparations on the border will also remain unwavering.
In the conference, there were in-depth discussions with the senior leadership of the Indian Army on key topics like grey-zone warfare, jointness, self-reliance and innovation. On this occasion, Chief of Defense Staff General Anil Chauhan, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, Defense Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh, Vice Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Pushpendra Singh and all Army Commanders were present.
Defense Minister urged army commanders
He said that this operation symbolizes that India responds to any terrorist activity on its own terms. This is the defense principle of the new India, which is a symbol of both determination and courage. The Defense Minister called upon the soldiers to never underestimate the enemies and remain alert and ready at all times.
The Defense Minister urged the Army Commanders to continuously focus on defense diplomacy, self-reliance, information warfare, defense infrastructure and force modernisation. He said that the priority of the government is to create a future ready army. He praised the courage and discipline of the soldiers and assured that the government is committed to providing modern technology, infrastructure and necessary resources.
Defense Minister honored the brave warriors who fought in 1971
On the situation after the removal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, the Defense Minister said, ‘Today there is hope and not unrest in the streets of Jammu and Kashmir. People are full of confidence about their future. The most important thing is that now the power of decision making is in the hands of the local people. The Indian Army has played an important role in this change.
During the conference, the Defense Minister virtually inaugurated several technology-based projects. Defense Minister honored the brave warriors of 1971 war in Longewala. He inaugurated ‘Chandpuri Hall’. This is an audio-video room built in the memory of Brigadier Kuldeep Singh Chandpuri, who displayed bravery in the 1971 war.
Review of development projects in Longewala
The Defense Minister also reviewed the ongoing development projects to make Longewala a place of national pride. Rajnath Singh also witnessed a ‘Capability Demonstration Exercise’ in which a coordinated display of the latest technical resources of the Army including ‘Bhairav’ battalion and ‘Ashni’ platoon was conducted. This demonstration symbolized the coordination of tradition and innovation of the Indian Army and demonstrated its dedication to capability development and modernization.
The Defense Minister said that today’s war is not only of machines, but also of human spirit and determination. Technology increases power, but results are determined by the willpower of the soldiers. Modern wars are now being fought in invisible areas like cyber, information, electronic and space and our soldiers are at the center of it all.
