A shocking incident has come to light from Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka, where a girl lodged a police complaint against her boyfriend and his family on Thursday (October 23, 2025). The girl accused her boyfriend and his family of allegedly forcing her to convert to Islam for marriage.
A case has been registered at HSR Layout Police Station in Bengaluru and a complaint has been filed against Mohammad Ishaq. According to the police, the victim and Mohammad Ishaq allegedly came in contact through Instagram on October 17, 2024. After talking for some time, they got into a relationship. On October 30, 2024, they met in a mall in Thanisandra area of Bengaluru. The accused promised the victim that he would talk to her parents and marry her.
Sexually exploited several times on the pretext of marriage – victim
The victim said in her complaint, ‘Ishaq booked a room in Dasarahalli and allegedly sexually assaulted her.’ She said that Ishaq repeatedly physically exploited her on the pretext of marriage. Meanwhile, she became suspicious of his behavior and learned that he was having affairs with several other girls. When the victim insisted for marriage, he kept postponing it by making excuses.
It was also revealed that the accused had got engaged to a Muslim girl on September 14, 2025. When inquired about this, he allegedly threatened the victim that if she contacted him again, she would be killed. The victim further told that she was also abused.
Accused’s family pressured him to convert – victim
According to the complaint lodged, the victim attempted suicide, after which Ishaq’s family contacted the victim and said that the matter could be resolved amicably. However, Ishaq’s elder brother and brother-in-law allegedly told the girl that if she wanted to marry the accused, she would have to convert to Islam. He allegedly instructed her to learn to offer Namaz within 40 days and said that marriage talks would proceed only after conversion.
Hindu organization demands strict action from police in this matter
This case has now become completely controversial, Hindu organizations are contacting the victim’s family and calling it a case of love jihad and demanding justice. The police are taking the matter seriously and are continuing the investigation. BJP alleged that cases of love jihad are increasing in Karnataka due to the appeasement politics of the Congress-led government.
Former minister and BJP MLC CT Ravi had urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to constitute a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to comprehensively investigate all cases of love jihad, land jihad and vote jihad.
Karnataka BJP Speaker targeted Siddaramaiah government
Karnataka BJP President B. Y. Vijayendra had also said that due to Siddaramaiah’s minority appeasement politics, cases of love jihad are increasing in the state, which is happening like the Kerala model in this matter. Vijayendra said, ‘Those who commit crimes against women and anti-social elements feel that the state government will support them, because the government hesitates in arresting the accused even in cases like raising slogans of Pakistan Zindabad in the Vidhan Soudh complex. This policy is worsening the law and order situation and creating fear among Hindu families and women.
