Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, is going to create a new history in the field of defense production on Saturday (October 18, 2025). Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will flag off the first batch of BrahMos missiles manufactured from the BrahMos Aerospace Unit located in Sarojini Nagar. This day will not only prove to be a milestone for the Uttar Pradesh Defense Industrial Corridor (UPDIC), but will also provide new energy to India’s resolve for self-reliance in defense products.
BrahMos Aerospace, the manufacturer of the world’s fastest and most lethal precision strike ‘BrahMos’ supersonic missile system, has successfully completed the first batch of the missile system from its new Integration and Test Facility in Lucknow. This state-of-the-art unit became fully operational after inauguration on 11 May 2025. All modern facilities for missile integration, testing and final quality testing are available here. After successful testing the missiles are prepared for deployment for the Indian Armed Forces.
Various programs will be organized
During the program, the Defense Minister and the Chief Minister will inaugurate the booster building and will also see a demonstration of the booster docking process. In this sequence, presentation of airframe and avionics, PDI (Pre-Dispatch Inspection) and BrahMos simulator equipment will be done in Warhead Bhawan. Apart from this, tree plantation programme, storage trolley demonstration, GST bill presentation and demonstration of mobile autonomous launcher will also be organized on this occasion.
During the program, DG (BrahMos) Dr. Jayateertha R. Joshi will hand over a check and GST bill to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, which will generate revenue for the state government. Production of BrahMos missiles will provide continuous GST income to Uttar Pradesh and will also create employment opportunities for highly skilled youth.
The most ambitious project of Defense Corridor
The state-of-the-art BrahMos unit located at Bhatgaon in Sarojini Nagar is one of the most ambitious projects of the Uttar Pradesh Defense Corridor. Here the assembly, integration and testing of missiles is done as per high technical standards. With the departure of the first consignment from this unit, the state has become a strong partner in the campaign of ‘Make in India, Make for the World’.
Lucknow BrahMos Unit is the first such facility of Uttar Pradesh Defense Corridor, where the entire process from manufacturing of the missile system to final testing is done in the country. This project is not only important from strategic point of view, but is also creating new opportunities for employment, investment and technological innovation in the state.
Uttar Pradesh will become India’s next aerospace and defense manufacturing hub
BrahMos Aerospace has rapidly expanded its production capacity to meet the growing requirements of the Indian Armed Forces. This manufacturing center in Lucknow will not only meet the requirements of the Indian Army in a timely manner, but will also be able to meet the demands of the international export market in the times to come.
This dedicated BrahMos unit set up in Lucknow is a major step towards establishing Uttar Pradesh as the next aerospace and defense manufacturing hub of India.
