The tariff war between America and China seems to be getting aggressive. China had earlier shocked President Donald Trump with its decision not to buy soybeans. Now Trump is preparing to teach Beijing a lesson regarding cooking oil. Trump has threatened China that he is considering ending the cooking oil trade with Beijing.
US President Trump has openly threatened China. He wrote on social media platform Truth, “I think China is deliberately not buying soybeans from us and is putting our soybean farmers in trouble, which is an economically hostile act. To take revenge, we are considering ending the transaction of cooking oil and other merchandise with China. For example, we can easily make cooking oil ourselves and do not need to buy it from China.
What is the reason for the China-America dispute?
In fact, China has been the largest buyer of American soybean. According to CNBC report, it had purchased about 27 million tonnes of soybean in 2024. Its value was about $12.8 billion, but China has stopped buying American soybean from May 2025. Jinping had spread this in response to American tariffs. However, China also imposed retaliatory tax on American goods.

What will happen if America does not buy cooking oil?
If we talk about cooking oil, China had reached its record level in 2024. The important thing is that America had bought about 43 percent of China’s total exports. If Trump now decides not to buy cooking oil from China, it will prove to be a big blow to Beijing. Due to this, the food and biofuel supply chains of both the countries will also be adversely affected.
