In connection with the investigation of the recruitment scam in the municipalities of West Bengal, ED on Friday (October 10, 2025) simultaneously raided 13 locations in and around Kolkata. These places also include the offices of state fire minister and Trinamool Congress MLA Sujit Bose and the locations of his firms.
ED has seized many important documents, digital devices and Rs 45 lakh in cash during the raid. The ED investigation started on the basis of the CBI FIR, which was registered on the orders of the Kolkata High Court. In this scam, it is alleged that huge irregularities were committed in the recruitment of employees in many municipalities of the state.
Recruitment was done fraudulently on these posts
ED said in its initial investigation report that this recruitment scam is not limited to the recruitment of teachers only, but fraudulent recruitment was also done on posts like labourers, sweepers, clerks, drivers, pump operators and helpers in many municipalities of the state.
ED’s investigation revealed that a company named M/s ABS Infozon Pvt Ltd, whose director is Ayan Sil, was given contracts related to the recruitment process of several municipalities, such as printing question papers, preparing OMR sheets, checking marks and making merit lists.
Ineligible candidates were given jobs by taking money
Investigation revealed that Ayan Sil, along with political leaders and officials, manipulated the OMR sheets and took money to provide jobs to many ineligible candidates. In this case, ED had earlier raided the premises of Ayan Sil during the investigation of primary teacher recruitment scam, in which many digital evidences were found.
This evidence showed that Ayn Sil’s network was active not only in the recruitment of teachers, but also in the recruitment of many municipalities. Earlier too, ED had also raided the residences of Minister Sujit Bose and State Food Supplies Minister Rathin Ghosh.
Chargesheet filed against the accused
ED has also filed a charge sheet against Ayan Sil in this case in the Special PMLA Court, Kolkata. Now ED is investigating to which political and administrative levels the money transaction went. According to ED officials, the investigation is still going on.
