Even before the announcement of the Nobel Peace Prize, Russia said on Friday (October 10) that it will support US President Donald Trump’s nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize. According to Russian government agency TASS, Kremlin’s top advisor Yuri Ushakov said that Moscow is in favor of Trump’s candidacy. He says that the initiative taken by Trump to end the Ukraine war is commendable and can be considered an important contribution towards restoring peace.
Trump’s name was given earlier also
US President Donald Trump’s attraction towards the Nobel Peace Prize is not a new topic. During his first term, he was nominated for this prestigious award for the Abraham Accords, which played an important role towards the normalization of relations between Israel and several Arab countries, but this time Trump has put forward his ambitions more clearly.
He has claimed that in just a few months of his tenure, he has contributed to ending six to seven international conflicts, including the tension between India and Pakistan, which according to him could have escalated into nuclear war.
India has denied Trump’s claims
While Trump has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize by Pakistan, India has taken a tough stance on the issue. Prime Minister Narendra Modi clearly told Trump that he had no direct contribution in reducing tension between India and Pakistan.
