Afghanistan’s acting Foreign Minister Aamir Khan Mutki will visit Moscow next week to attend a meeting based on issues like reconciliation agreement and regional cooperation in the country. Russia’s Foreign Ministry gave this information. Ministry spokesman Maria Jakharova told in his daily press conference on Thursday (October 02, 2025) that Mottaki will also hold bilateral talks with her Russian counterpart Sergei Lavarov on the sidelines of the meeting.
Zakharova said, “The seventh meeting of the Moscow format consultation on Afghanistan will be held in Moscow on October 7, which will include special representatives and senior officials of Afghanistan, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.”
National reconciliation agreement will be discussed in Afghanistan
He informed that a delegation from Belarus has also been invited as guests in the meeting. Jakharova said that Afghanistan will be represented by External Affairs Minister Mundki, who will hold a separate dialogue with his Russian counterpart Lavarov on the sidelines of this meeting.
He informed that Lavrov will inaugurate the seventh meeting of Moscow format counseling on Afghanistan. This meeting to be held in a closed-room will discuss measures to promote the National Recolure Agreement in Afghanistan and to increase practical cooperation between regional countries and Kabul in political, economic, anti-terrorism and anti-intoxicants.
Joint statement may be released after meeting
Jakharova said that a joint statement is also likely to be issued after the meeting. According to reports, Mutaki has recently been exempted from the United Nations travel ban and he can also travel to India next week.
