Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) achieved a large milestone of its journey on Monday (September 29, 2025). The Directorate of General Civil Aviation (DGCA) has granted aerodrome license to the airport. This license is given after meeting strict security and regulatory standards and it is required before any airport starts operations.
Getting aerodrome license is an indication that NMIA is now moving towards final preparations towards its operation. The airport management says that this step will further strengthen the contact at the regional and international level and take the Mumbai metropolitan region to new heights.

The construction of Navi Mumbai International Airport is one of the country’s most ambitious infrastructure projects. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) of Mumbai is already the busiest airport in the country and is continuously increasing the passenger number.
