How many Muslim men can marry? Kerala High Court pronounced a big decision; This condition kept for second marriage

The Kerala High Court has given a big verdict on more than one marriage of Muslims. The High Court has given its decision citing the verses of the Quran. The Kerala High Court has said that Muslim personal law allows more than one weddings.

The High Court quoted the verses of the Quran as saying that a person who is not capable of maintaining the second or third wife, does not have the right to marry again.

While giving the verdict, Justice PV Kunkrishnan directed the Social Welfare Department to provide consultation through a able consultants including a blind person of Palakkad, who begs his livelihood by begging, including religious leaders, so that he can be prevented from spending third marriage.

What is the whole matter?

The second wife of the person, resident of Malappuram, challenged the rejecting of his maintenance claim by the family court. He alleged that he earns around Rs 25,000 per month by begging outside the mosques on Friday, but the family court rejected his claim, saying that a beggar could not be forced to maintain maintenance.

What did the victim tell?

In her appeal, the victim alleged that her blind shrine threatened to divorce her and was planning to marry again. The court did not accept the allegation of physical attack, arguing that it is unlikely to happen until it is ready for it, and upheld the family court’s decision on the claim of maintenance. However, the court said that the person who does not have the means of maintaining two more wives, cannot marry again.

Court gave instructions to the government

The bench said that the petitioner himself married her while her first marriage was going on. The High Court said that such marriages are often due to lack of education and awareness about Muslim personal law. When the husband is not able to maintain his wives, the courts cannot continuously recognize weddings.

The bench emphasized that it is the responsibility of the government to protect a blind person forced to beg for livelihood and when such a person marries again and again, he should intervene.
