PM Modi reached a 90 -minute road visit to meet victims of Manipur violence, heavy rains stopped helicopter flight

Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Imphal in Manipur on Saturday (September 13, 2025). This was his first visit to Manipur in 2023 after ethnic violence. During this time the weather was very bad and it was raining heavily. When the journey by helicopter was impossible, Prime Minister Modi chose the road and reached the Peace Ground in Churachandpur after completing the rainy journey of about 1.5 hours.

The enthusiasm of the people increased in the rain
Prime Minister Modi said, ‘You have come here in such a large number of such severe rains. It is a matter of pride and inspiration for me. He said that the helicopter could not come, but it proved better to come by the road because on the way people welcomed him with love and respect holding the tricolor of the country. PM Modi said, ‘The love and belonging I saw on the way will always remain in my heart. Despite the rain, I came to meet people because your support is the biggest inspiration for me. He further said that the Government of India is committed to the development and security of Manipur at every step.

PM Modi said, government’s commitment- peace and development
PM Modi insisted that the central government is making every effort to restore peace in Manipur and bring life back on track. He appealed to all communities to take the path of peace and assured, ‘The Government of India is with you.’ In May 2023, violence erupted between Maetai and Cookie communities of Manipur. More than 250 people were killed and around 60,000 people were living in temporary camps. This journey of PM Modi is considered important for giving mental and administrative support to these people.

Manipur’s gift of PM Modi
PM Modi inaugurated 17 projects worth about Rs 1,200 crore in Imphal. He inaugurated the new Manipur Police Headquarters built at a cost of Rs 101 crore and the Civil Secretariat built at a cost of Rs 538 crore. He also inaugurated the newly constructed Manipur Bhawan in New Delhi and Kolkata and the development phase-2 and Mall Road Charan-2 of the Western Front of the Imphal River in the state capital.
