ED took major action on 2 September 2025 by raiding several locations in Bengaluru and Chalkere. This case is K.C., MLA of Chitradurga Virendra is associated with Virendra and his companions, who are accused of cheating public through illegal online betting.
During the raid, ED seized 5 luxury vehicles (including Mercedes Benz. There were VIP numbers of these vehicles – KA 50 MB 0003, KA 09 Ml 0003, KA 53 MD 000, Ka 53 MH 0003, Ka 16 P 0003 and Ka 02 MU 5267.
About 55 crores freeze
Apart from this, ED has freezed the amount of about 55 crores. Out of this, about 40.69 crore 9 bank accounts and 1 demat account are associated with, while about 14.46 crore 262 have been extracted from fake accounts. These accounts were used to rotate the money which were deposited from the betting websites. Earlier on 28 August 2025, ED extended the custody of Virendra by 7 more days. At that time, 12 crore cash, 6 crore gold jewelry, about 10 kg of silver and 4 vehicles were seized in the raid.
What is the whole matter
Investigation has revealed that Virendra was running many online betting sites like King567, Raja567, Lion567. There has been a transaction of about 2000 crores from only one payment gateway. ED suspects that their large network is also operating from Dubai. Virendra’s brother K.C. Thippeswamy is running companies called Diamond Softech, TRS Technologies and Prime9 Technologies in Dubai. Apart from this, many more companies like Castle Rock Project Management Services and Lascaux Core Project Management Services have also come out, which are said to be related to betting and call center business.
ED found that the money coming from betting sites used to go to fake accounts earlier. He was handled by Virendra’s nephew Pruttvi N Raj aka Appu. This money was layering and rotated through different paths and then sent out through hawala. The ED says that Virendra and his companions were trying to show their illegal business as e-commerce and trying to show real business. The ED is currently under investigation and many more revelations are likely.
