Many important decisions have been taken in the 56th meeting of GST Council. Before Diwali, the government has given great relief to the common people, small businessmen and farmers of the country. Only two have been approved by reducing the number of GST slabs. Now it will be limited to 5 percent and 18 percent. Some things needed in the meeting have been tax free. Many things including roti, cheese and milk have become zero GST.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman shared information about the change in GST after the meeting on Wednesday (September 3). Along with daily items, medicines and education related goods have also been made tax free. At the same time, there are many such things on which GST has been reduced. On some parts of the tractor, GST has been reduced from 18 percent to 5 percent. Earlier, the tractor used to be taxed at 12 percent, but now only 5 percent will be charged.

These food items will not be applied GST

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has shared a list of such goods, giving information about the change in the tax slab, which will not be GST. Earlier, GST of 5 to 18 percent used to be imposed on these, but it has now become zero GST.

There will also be no tax on education related goods

The government has given great relief to the students and made the goods related to education tax free. There were many things including pencil, rubber and cutter, which used to tax, but now they are outside the purview of GST.

Big change regarding medicines and health insurance

Giving great relief to the common people, the government has made many medicines tax free. At the same time, health-life policy is also kept out of the purview of GST. In the council meeting, 33 life saving medicines GST has been abolished. Earlier, 12 percent tax was levied on them.

Explain that the tax rate on goods like tooth powder, milk bottles, kitchen utensils, umbrellas, bicycles, bamboo furniture and comb has been reduced from 12 percent to 5 percent. The tax rates on shampoo, talcum powder, toothpaste, toothbrush, face powder, soap and hair oil have been reduced from 18 percent to five percent.
