Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal on Friday (August 29, 2025) said that India, US President Donald Trump will not bow down to the tariff, but will move towards new markets.
Addressing a program related to the construction industry in Delhi, he said that India is always ready for the free trade agreement, but India will neither bow nor look weak. We will move forward together and will continue to capture new markets.
India will cross export data of 2024-25
The Union Minister further said that I can say with full confidence that this year India’s exports will also cross 2024-25 data. The central government is going to make many announcements to support every sector and promote exports in the coming days.
The minister said, ‘We are reaching other parts of the world in the Commerce Ministry, through our embassies, to find other opportunities that we can take advantage of. We are also considering promoting domestic consumption.
India ready for good trade agreement
He said, ‘You will soon see the meeting of the GST Council next week, so that all of you can feel the effect of these changes very quickly and this can give a rapid promotion of demand in the entire domestic manufacturing sector.’ Goyal said that if a country wants to make a good business agreement with India, then we are always ready for it. Goyal said, ‘The country has successfully faced crises like Kovid-19 global epidemic and nuclear sanctions in the past.
Addressing the people of the construction sector, he said that there is a demand for about 10 lakh houses in Australia. He invited Indian businesses, workers and experts to take advantage of the opportunity and said that Australia is ready for financial support, technology expertise and workforce support from India.
Punitive action on India for heavy purchase of Russian oil
US President Donald Trump earlier this month imposed a 50 percent fee on several Indian items imported in the US as a punitive measure from India as a punitive measure. These fees came into force this week and are part of American efforts to pressurize Moscow to end the war in Ukraine.
