Edupayala Vana Durga Temple submerged due to heavy rains in Telangana, appeal to devotees to postpone the journey

The famous Edupayala Vana Durga temple located in Medak district of Telangana is partially submerged due to heavy rains. Flood -like conditions remain in the area, due to which Mahant Shekhar Sharma of the temple has appealed to the devotees to postpone the visit to the temple till the situation is normal.

After the release of 400 cusecs of water from the Singur Dam, the flow of water in Edupayala again increased on Saturday (30 August 2025). Due to continuous rains and release of water from the dam, water has been flooded in the temple premises, which affects the worship and darshan work in the temple. Waterlogging situation is also being seen in the areas around the temple, which has increased the concern of local people and devotees.

Disaster management team active

The district administration is keeping a close watch on this situation. The District Collector has advised people to avoid traveling to the temple from a security point of view. The administration has activated disaster management parties and relief work has been started in the affected areas. The collector said that the water is being controlled by the dam, but due to heavy rains, the water level in rivers and drains has increased.

Administration appeal to devotees

Mahant Shekhar Sharma said, ‘Security of devotees is our priority. Until the water level is low and the situation does not become normal, the temple should not come. Local residents have also demanded the administration to take quick steps to solve the problem of waterlogging in the area.

The administration has appealed people to stay away from rivers and low -lying areas. The Meteorological Department has expressed the possibility of more rain in the next few days, due to which the situation is constantly being monitored.
