What is the matter?
The two -year -old girl from the neighborhood, who hails from Wadi area of ​​Nagpur, used to meet a 4 -year -old girl often. On 3 April 2008, she raped the girl with a chocolate. After this, he was murdered. To identify the dead body, he crushed his head with stones. He was sentenced to death by the Additional Sessions Court of Nagpur on 23 February 2012. The High Court and the Supreme Court upheld it. The Governor in 2022 and the President in 2023 dismissed the mercy petition.

What did the convict argue?
The new petition of Dupare was heard by the bench of Justice Vikram Nath, Justice Sanjay Karol and Justice Sandeep Mehta. In this petition, he cited the decision on the Manoj vs Madhya Pradesh case on 20 May 2022. In that decision, a bench of 3 judges of the Supreme Court had said that while sentenced to death, the circumstances that reduce the seriousness of the crime should also be noticed. This fact can make the case life imprisonment instead of hanging. In these facts, things like social background, mental state, young age, lack of criminal background, lack of pre-plan of crime can be done.
