To make the country’s air security impregnable, DRDO has successfully tested the Integrated Air Defense Weapon System (IADWS). Under this, three different types of missiles and laser weapons successfully killed three different aerial targets together in the sky. This system is being considered part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s much-awaited Sudarshan Chakra Mission.
According to the Ministry of Defense, the first flight test of integrated air defense weapons system (IADWS) on the coast of Odisha was successfully conducted. The IADWS is a multi -level air defense system, which includes all indigenous missiles and laser weapons.
The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) included a high power laser -based energy weapon (DRDO) on Saturday afternoon during this test during the test, a high power laser -based energy weapon (Dew), including Quick Reaction Surface to Air Missile (QRSAM) i.e. quick – – – – – – –st surface -to -air missile and varier short range air defense system i.e. Veshorads Missile. During this time, three different air goals were destroyed by these three weapons (missiles and laser weapons). These goals had two (02) UAV and one multi-copter drone. All these targets were killed at different distances and height.
IADWS created through indigenous technology
According to the DRDO, during the test, the command and control system to the communication and radar system presented successful results. During the Test, senior scientists of DRDO and commander associated with Armed Forces were also present. The IADWS system has been created through indigenous technology. This multi -layered air defense system can provide air protection at various levels, causing enemy aerial attacks (drones, missiles, fighter jets, etc.) to effectively thwart.
The special thing is that on the occasion of Independence Day (15 August) this month, PM Modi announced the Sudarshan Chakra Mission from the ramparts of the Red Fort. This is an air defense system, in which a blueprint for developing indigenous missile systems has been prepared to provide security to the country’s civil and military air space. In such a situation, IADWS can also be considered part of the same mission.
What is the purpose of Sudarshan Chakra Mission?
The Sudarshan Chakra Mission aims to provide a comprehensive national security shield for both strategic and citizen properties by 2035. QRESAM, Vishorad, Akash Missile, Medium Range Surface to Air Missile (MRSAM) and laser weapons have been prepared in the country for less distance and medium distance. But on the lines of Russia’s S-400, there is still a dire need for long-range air defense (missile). In such a situation, DRDO has started working on Project Kusha.
Under this project, the DRDO will prepare five squadrons of long distance land from long distance land. DRDO has targeted to complete this project by the year 2028-29.
Plan ready to develop three types of missiles
DRDO has prepared a plan to develop three types of missiles under Project Kusha. These three missiles will be able to fail the enemy aerial attack at a distance of 150 km, 250 km and 350 km. In such a situation, the enemy’s fighter jets, drones and missiles can be killed at different distances according to their speed.
This missile system can destroy the reconnaissance aircraft or military transport aircraft at a distance of 350 km, destroying the fighter aircraft at a distance of 250 km. Apart from this, the strength to kill the enemy’s stealth fighter jet, cruise missile and pressure munition will also be in this Kusha missile. It can also kill the enemy’s target on the ‘low-radar cross section’ i.e. which fly aerial target at very low height.
